Kendra Black

I’m a sophomore majoring in Biology. I was born in Florida but I was raised briefly in the Caribbean before coming back here to stay. I love to read, I enjoy being with my family, and I appreciate the “little” things in life.

Stephen Jones

Hi, I am Stephen Jones, a senior studying Economics at FAU’s Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College. I love to travel. In high school I participated to an exchange program to Nantes, France, and I studied abroad in East Africa in college. Outside of classes, I have been involved in FAU’s student government along with various clubs and organizations. My dad is currently living in Hollywood, FL, but I was born in Connecticut. I am excited to meet you all.

Alexandra Mellon

I am a sophomore majoring in graphic design. I am from the west coast of Florida. I am an outdoor oriented person. I enjoy sports such as soccer and swimming. I also like going on bike rides and going to the beach. I am very down to earth and a go with the flow person.

Winnie Metellus

I am a senior double majoring in Psychology and Health Administration with two minors in Spanish and Sociology. I reside in Weston, FL but I was born in Queens, NY. I am of Haitian descent and speak Creole as well as Spanish and French. Last winter break, I participated in Noël du Pauvre which is an event where food, clothes, and so on are distributed to those who are less fortunate in Haiti. I also love to shop, eat, travel, listen to music, dance and volunteer my time to helping others in need. I look forward to meeting all of you!

Samica Telhomme

My name is Samica Telhomme and I’m a sophomore, majoring in International Business and Trade. I like to play tennis, do yoga, write poetry, and listen to music. I was born in Haiti but I’ve been living in Miami for quite some time before moving on campus. I speak three languages fluently: Haitian Creole, French, and English and I’m also learning two more: Spanish and Korean.

Joeli Tineo

I am currently a junior at FAU.  I was born In the Dominican Republic but have lived in the US for 24 years since I was 3 years old. I like Going to the movies, standup comedy, and technology. I am also very political and enjoy learning new things.

I’m working on my second master’s degree in instructional technology. I’m a TA in FAU I love teaching, traveling and knowing new people.

Desiree Lacayo (left)

I’m a sophmore at FAU. I’m from Florida, but my parents are from Nicaragua. I speak and understand Spanish. I am studying psychology and French. I am very passionate about the culinary arts and Harry Potter. I love to travel and I hope to study abroad during my junior year.

Anna Lee Robbins

I am a sophomore who has diverse interests, such as art, writing, photography, science and music. Being exposed to different cultures and learning foreign languages excites me, and I am very open to new experiences.

Diana Alvarez

I’m Diana Alvarez, a second year graduate student in the Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies department. I served as a Spanish Teaching Assistant in the department of Languages and Linguistics during my first year in the masters program. I am originally from Colombia and recently returned from a summer in Puerto Rico.   I have an orange cat named Easter.

Charlotte Barna

My name is Charlotte and I will be a junior in the Music program in Fall 2012 majoring in vocal performance. I love everything involving music: listening to it, playing instruments (piano, guitar and ocarina flutes), and of course singing! Aside from that I enjoy hanging out with my friends, travelling, going to the beach and trying out new foods :-) I am originally from Germany -born and raised- but my parents are Hungarian and I speak both languages. I am very much interested in different languages and cultures and I can’t wait to meet all the new international students!

Zsak Vincente

My name is Zsak Vincente and I am a Senior Biology major here at FAU. I intend to pursue a career in the medical field. I enjoy cooking, spending time with family, watching movies, scuba diving, fishing, the ocean, beach, and lots more. I love clubbing and dancing.

Errick Verran

I was born in South Florida. As a sophomore at FAU, I studied as an exchange student in Paris, France. I am an English major, with a minor degree in Art History, and I will graduate this semester. I enjoy writing poetry, riding my bike, and visiting museums.

Cassandra Spence

I was born in London, England but I am of Jamaican descent. I will be entering my junior year here at Florida Atlantic University this Fall. I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Journalism and a minor in Commercial Music. Many of the things I like to do is listen to music, especially dance hall, reggae, and r&b. I also enjoy cooking and meeting new people.

Corinne Scanlon

I am a Senior studying Elementary Education. I work for FAU and Pine Jog at their summer camp out in the J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area. I am in the FAU Marching Owls and a Brother of the National Honorary Band Fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi. I am also a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the Honor Society for Educators.

Sameko Munroe

Sameko Munroe is a graduate student in the College of Business. He enjoys learning new languages, traveling, and meeting people.

Raphael Lima

I am Brazilian and have lived in the US since 1999. I first was an exchange student here for one year, then went to college, and now have been working full-time since 2005. I work for the FAU’s College of Medicine as an IT Coordinator and do my MBA part-time here also. The experience of living in the US has allowed me to meet so many different people from different cultures and has made me learn how to appreciate and understand differences. I do not think I could ever have learned so much if I had stayed only in Brazil.

Krysten Deidrick

I’m a sophomore who loves the small, enlightening moments in life, but also the moments with friends who make me fall over cackling for five minutes until it hurts. I can’t help it. All I want to do is learn how to live more with less, and enthusiastically, so I learn as much as I can drawing wisdom from many sources– from ancient texts to tumblr posts.

 

Deborah Amankwa

I am a Senior majoring in Biology and would like to eventually specialize in Pediatrics. I love traveling and absolutely love music of all sorts. I’m originally from Germany, but have lived in the States for most of my life.

Shakeera Maragh

Hello my name is Shakeera, I am currently a junior, majoring in biology. I like most foods except horseradish. I enjoy going fishing with my dad and also watching the ocean. I like reading books. I try to sing but I don’t know how to dance. All in all, I enjoy meeting new people and sharing stories.
